At Rice University Dining, our sustainability efforts extend beyond the hedges to the companies we do business with. General Mills is one of those suppliers that we do a tremendous amount of business with. They supply our cereal, yogurt, and baked goods. 08/24/2009 - Tray-Less Update

Since trays were removed from serveries over the Spring Break of 2009, we have calculated annualized savings of 2% in the purchase of food. We have also realized a 9% decrease in water and dish machine chemical usage. I would like to commend the students and the association for passing the tray-less resolution and look forward to the next great idea. As a result of the savings, we have introduced All Natural Angus Beef for hamburgers, meatballs, meat sauce and other items. We have also been able to adopt the Monterey bay Aquarium Seafood Watch recommendation as a result. See below.
